New Winner, Tuesday's Hours

Morning!

I had to pick a new winner yesterday for the FREE Melissa & Doug toy. If she can make it in today then the contest is over (I have customers do the drawing!) otherwise, I'll pick again. I won't be in until about 11 because my Nanny (should call her Auntie or Family because she has been a fabulous part of our family for almost 14 years now) had to take her car in and so I'm a little delayed. Otherwise I will be there. I had a fantastic turnout yesterday. It was so worthwhile going in. I'm organizing things also and in a spirited mood. Other than running upstairs to get some help from Dr. Jason my chiropractor I'll be in the store until four today.

Open for last minute shopping!

Hi,

I'll be open today, even though it is a Monday, because I know there is some last minute stuff people need to get done. Bring your kids and I can distract them for you while you shop and bag things up discreetly while you distract them :)

The winner for the Melissa and Doug toy has been chosen and contacted (I'll call again today and send an email). You have until tomorrow to pick it up or I have to choose a new winner. Will keep the site updated with that info!

Why walk around the malls in the rain? I have great gifts. Sure, I am a resale store but I have almost as many new items- especially gift stuff. And even the clothes are in gift-giving condition. My own kids are as fanatical about fashion and fabrics, etc as I am and they even are getting stuff I bought off of craigslist and the store. And you know what? They love it.

New Baby Lulu Holiday outfits and lots of other new and resale (re-wearable) outfits!

This past week I got a shipment of Inky Binky Baby (Lots of Headbands in and now offering separate Daisy clippies in two sizes to mix and match or wear alone (I even wear them!), Hippie Clippies, See Kai Run and Melissa and Doug! So there is lots to choose from. I also have some Diapees and Wipees left that are great gifts for a new mom- if you have a friend or wife or from the kids to mom. They have some new styles left I'd love to order but need to sell a few more first!

So, I'll be open today from at least 11:30 to 2:30. I can also take orders by phone and credit card if you live locally and we can work out a pick-up or deliver. I'll be open tomorrow from 10-4 as usual and then closed for awhile except by appointment to shop probably. I need some quality time with my little ones, but I live nearby and am more than happy to bring them in and meet you.

Get your last minute outfits, accessories (what picture won't be complete without a black velvet hair clippie or a bloomin' beanie???) and toys. I will also be setting up a shipping account so I can start posting items online and people can shop from all over- not just San Diego. Or if my hours don't work with your schedule, etc.

So feel free to call or stop by. I'm happy to help! Next story time coming in January complete with Frozen Yogurt!!!! Maybe I'll open next week one day just for that. Tuesday possibly the 30th?

18 December 2008

"Let your children play"

Today's thunder showers made my first story hour a total flop! I'm pretty bummed... However, The Big Chill (Scripps Ranch yummy frozen yogurt located off Avenida Magnifica) has offered to donate some yogurt to my next story hour! They have new holiday and winter flavors to try out also. And remember, I keep their coupons in my store :) I am going to take my kids over there to do some taste testing of my own. I wonder if candy-cane flavored yogurt would be good with hot fudge? Hmmm... Ice Cream and Yogurt in the wintertime might seem like an odd combo, but to me it is just as comforting. And it lowers your body temperature a tiny bit making it seem just a little less cold outside (even if it is only temporary). But, that's me. I have ice cream or frozen yogurt almost every night. I joke that's part of my "diet".

So, I'll be thinking of another good day to do a story hour (or half-hour). It's supposed to rain again on Monday. And most kids are off school. Something to do in the yucky weather and maybe do a little holiday shopping while getting a free treat! Any interest?

On to another subject, as I mentioned in an earlier posting my new shipment of See Kai Run shoes had arrived. They have new boxes with a little letter from from the owner on the side. I just loved the quote. Here it is "See Kai Run is a family owned business located in Seattle delivering the highest quality shoes to thousands of jumping, dancing, skipping, soaring little ones throughout the US and abroad. Let your little ones outside to run...and climb...and play! They'll look stylish, and most importantly, their little feet will be protected and comfortable in our butter-soft leather and flexible rubber soles. Enjoy!"

It reminds me of bubbles on a warm Spring day...

For those of you not familiar with the brand, here is some info from their web site. And like all my vendors, it is a family based business supporting moms!

And some pictures of my new styles (and some I still have in stock- some on
sale!).

Okay, so not the best layout. Hey, it's late. And rainy. I
think I'll finish the laundry and go cuddle with my little ones.

Tomorrow I have a holiday party for my oldest daughter at 9, so I'll probably be open around 11-ish. You can always call first. Or just assume 12-4. I'll get there as early as I can because I do have a ton of stuff to inventory and tag. And I found some more Holiday/Winter clothes- both new
and used. Come and get them. All new clothes are usually marked at least 30-50% off! It depends on different factors.

And special opening on Monday for last minute shopping from 10:30 to 2:30 at least. That's all for tonight.

17 December 2008

New Pictures and my first Story Hour!

I just sent out an email mailing, but I also like to mention everything here. I will be collecting new items for Becky's House (hopefully I'll have enough in by the 23rd) to make a drop-off at the latest. They are requesting something a little different for their Adopt-a-Family this year. Since there are so many people in need, they aren't taking specific requests, but instead are asking for a gift for a mom, a dad, and one or two children (they are especially low on older children/teen items). Anything would be appreciated, no amount too small. Also, gift cards to Grocery stores or Target, etc. are welcomed.

Wednesday the 17th at 11:30, I'll be trying out my first Story Time. Short notice, but with the cold weather and rain it just might be what you need. I'll bring in some books to read, but please feel free to bring in your family favorite to share. This will be geared towards the younger children because most schools are still in session. It'll be fun. Or crazy. But let's try it out and see how it goes!

Remember to check the holiday hours or call/email until normal hours resume in January.
In addition, I am not taking anymore buying appointments until January because I have a lot to tag and inventory at the moment. That way, when you come in more items will be on hangers for easier browsing.

Back at the Scripps Ranch Farmer's Market on Saturday- this may be our last trip there, at least for awhile. Special requests? Call or email.

I unbelievably still have Holiday outfits and accessories in stock, both resale and used. Excellent items from Janie & Jack to Osh Kosh and even some Carter's sleepers. I also tried to mostly stock items that can be worn more than once, would do well for pictures, and/or could be mixed and matched with other items so you get the most for your money.

New items have arrived! My Melissa and Doug toy shipment and See Kai Run shoes have arrived just in time for gift-giving. I also have plenty of other items for gift- including gift certificates! I can even mail the gift certificates in a festive envelope if you pay over the phone by credit card. Or come in to shop, donate, or read and pick it up then. I'm awaiting more items from Inky Binky Baby but I do have items left. And I'm now carrying non-slip boutique hair clips, bows, and pacifier clips by Hippie Clippies. Here's the pictures of some sample items as promised:

Fresh, Funky and Freakin' cute. I am even wearing them (as well as the clips from the Inky Binky Baby Bloomin' Beanies!). Enjoy! Hope to see some of you in tomorrow even at the short notice for story time. And I hope to see a lot of you in the very near future :)

15 December 2008

Holiday Hours, Updates, and Info

Can you believe how fast the time is passing? It is almost 2009! *Pause for thought*

Wow.

So, I have been super busy with the store and trying to get everything together I almost forgot to get it together for Christmas. Time to get together those last minute items or (for some of us) to get started shopping! I also have been playing phone tag with Becky's House because I want them to not only take the stacks of donations I have ready, but also put a bin in the store for all the donations to come (thank you everyone who has donated!), and I was hoping to get an adopt-a-family in time for the Holidays. I will try again tomorrow and let you know what happens.

First, with the holidays around and the school schedules changing I have some changes to the store hours temporarily.
This week:
Tuesday I have something in the morning so I'll be open about 11:15/11:30 until 4.
Wednesday, regular hours 10-4.
Thursday is still up in the air. I have an event at my daughters school I would really like to attend and I could still be at work by 11:30 or 1 depending on if I stayed for the whole event or not. Or if it looks like it is going to be busy, I can be at the store 10-4.
Friday will be 10-4, normal hours.
Saturday I will be back at the Farmer's Market in Scripps Ranch (Please no rain!) from 9-1 and then I am usually back at the store by 2:30. If you want me to bring something particular to the FM, I can do that. Or if you need to go by the store and look around, there might be someone (like my dad) who can ring you up. I'll update that later in the week. But I am back by 2/2:30 until 4 so feel free to come by the store.

Next Week:
Sunday closed as usual.
Monday the 22nd I will be open! Last minute gifts, shopping, holiday clothes, etc. Thought that might be helpful for someone at least. I probably will be there 11-3.
Tuesday the 23rd, regular hours 10-4 (so far, sounds like that will work- maybe 10:30).

Then closed the 24th and re-opening on the 3rd of January. I probably will be open for a little bit on Saturday the 27th and maybe Monday and Tuesday the 29th and 30th. However, it might be by appointment. I have a lot of inventory and stuff to do around the store so I'll be around to do that. And I also live close by. So as it gets closer I will have calls forwarded to my cell phone during the days I am closed. If someone wants to come in and shop, I can open up. I am also open to having playgroups/mom groups/meetings/parties/etc. if anyone is interested in setting something up during that time it would be a perfect time for something like that.

So, that should cover it all. I'll be back open in January Tuesday-Saturday from 10-4 and business will be as normal.

I will post some pictures tomorrow, but my new Melissa and Doug shipment arrived and I have some great, affordable, long lasting, durable toys ! Also, the non-slip "clippies" barrettes have arrived, along with pacifier clips by Hippie Clippies. Totally funky, yet stylish. I should be getting some more in of those also. And I'm also expecting a shipment of new See Kai Run shoes and Inky Binky Baby hopefully in the next couple days. And I'm looking to sell a couple more Diapees and Wipees so I can place a re-order. And I still have some Laura Roppe CD's left.

In addition, I have some great resale toys such as a foam ABC 123 floor mat from the Right Start, an Easy Bake Oven, Dora House, Games, Puzzles, Bead Set, and more. I have fantastic, warm, and funky stroller blanket that straps into the stroller (European Brand, great quality) that is perfect for this weather. Some slings and carriers, diaper bags and shoes too. And a variety of new and resale blankets, clothes, gifts and more.

I'll try and get one last email coupon out in the next day or so. And military discount is tomorrow the 16th. Perhaps I'll extend it a couple days again. Keep an eye out for that also.

That's all she wrote.

12 December 2008

Saturday December 13th Schedule

So... The big question arises. Is it going to rain and when?

If it is raining, or is extremely probable that it will rain I will not be doing the Scripps Ranch Farmer's Market on Saturday and instead will be at the store awaiting smart shoppers avoiding the malls on a Saturday in December to do some shopping. It is much to risky to bring merchandise to an outdoor market and have it potentially ruined by the rain.

But if it is not raining, we will be at a nice booth (wearing a really cool scarf probably due to the cold!) with great gift ideas, coupons, and fliers.

Also, we now have gift certificates!

And... Hair Clips (Clippies) and Pacifier Clips. More on their way and pictures to be posted when I have a little time.

Exciting new products. Exciting resale-new-to-you-products. Received some of my new Melissa & Doug toy shipment today. Anxiously awaiting the next one! I'll post some pictures and product names of those also. And of course, the new See Kai Run order should be in before the Holidays also!

But, I also have a great selection of quality used items and clothing for you to choose from. My inventory changes weekly and I do my best to keep up with my customer's requests. I still also have both new and used outfits and accessories for the Holidays and Pictures or Santa Visits. And some of them can really be mixed and matched with other clothing to be reused throughout the year instead of just a one-time-wear. Whichever is right for you.

So be smart and do some holiday shopping or buy a friend a gift certificate at Fresh Picked Boutique. Consistency, Customer Service, Quality and Variety are important goals to me. And you are supporting other moms because at this point all my products come from other moms- even the big vendors of new products were once small ideas by a mom looking for something different.

And while you are there, pick up a copy of Laura Roppe's CD to give to a friend or yourself. Listen to her music at www.lauraroppe.com and see why it is a must-have gift.

And my neighbor La Jolla Picture Frames (see link below) can personalize and frame items of your choice such as shadow boxes, memorabilia (like Jerseys, etc.), rugs, family portraits, etc. He can even spruce up an old photo and preserve it. What a fantastic gift idea. I'm doing one or more myself (shhh.. can't say anymore about that here!)

Also coming soon- awareness ribbons. The Purple Ribbon (my personal choice) which represents all Cancer Survivors, Cancer Awareness & Detection, Cancer Remembrance and Domestic Violence and Child Abuse. Also, Pink Ribbons for Breast Cancer. Once I get the ribbons in and figure out my cost and what I can price them at, I will post pictures of those also and let you know where the donations for each ribbon purchase will go to.

Final note, Dr. Jason at Active Posture Chiropractic Clinic upstairs from me is still accepting donations for Mama's Pantry (see earlier post for more info or contact his office directly at 858-564-7081 or click on the link below). Remember the gift of giving this holiday season. I'm still waiting to see about the Adopt-a-Family from Becky's House and my YWCA donations. Remember, I take donations at ALL TIMES! You can donate directly to me and then in many cases I may even pick up the items or designate the items solely for YWCA/Becky's House Donations and they will be placed in the bin for a family in need.

Ideas? Questions? Comments? Speak up, I'm listening :)

Friday Hours! Important

I'll be in the store a little late today because of car trouble and then at some point I'll have to leave to go pick it up because I need it back to load it up for the Farmer's Market tomorrow!

So please, call before coming by today to make sure I'm in. I'm thinking I'll be there by eleven and then I'll be gone from about 1-2 and then back until 4. Then tomorrow morning I'll be back at the Farmer's Market with lots of stuff for gifts.

I have a great new selection of pacifier clips and hair clips (I'll be posting pictures and more info tonight) in addition to the stuff from Inky Binky Baby I posted earlier. I also have a great selection of Melissa and Doug toys new for the holidays and a new shipment on its way that may be here in time for the Market tomorrow! If not, it will be in the stores all next week and I should be at the Farmer's Market again next Saturday for one last holiday shopping chance away from the malls :) Also on the way is a new See Kai Run order.

Lots more to talk about and new pictures to post but I need to get going so I can be at the store as much as possible! I also have other new and used toys to choose from including an Easy Bake Oven, Leapfrog toys, learning toys, a Dora House, bead sets, puzzles, blocks and I'm bringing more stuff in all the time!

Finally, don't forget to check out the Holiday outfits I have left. I have one or two more in larger sizes that will be in next week. Lots of other winter stuff available. And if I don't have it in stock, I'll look for it for you. So, let me know what I can do for you to make your shopping experience a pleasant one :)

Thanks for reading, even my boring updates like this one. And bring in your coupons when shopping!

09 December 2008

Another Wednesday!

Hello!

Just have a minute and wanted to post a brief update that the store won't be open Wednesday until about 11:00 AM, due to a doctor's appointment and a possible quick trip to get some store supplies. I plan on being back at the Farmer's Market Saturday also, but I am in the store afterwards for anyone planning on stopping by.

Remember, I have new and used stuff so there is a pretty good gift selection. Come on over and see what I can help you with. Maybe I'll get really ambitious in the next few days and bring in some gift wrapping stuff to take even more holiday pressure off you.

I have some great Melissa and Doug toys to choose from and lots of other random things coming and going such as the large ABC 123 Foam Floor Mat, a Dora House, and Leap Frog or Lamaze used toys. Add that to your holiday attire and a new hat a pair of shoes for pictures and call it a day well spent in more ways than one. While you're in, pick something up for a friend or last minute invite. Or call and let me know if I can go and get some stuff for you. I can do some personal shopping for a small fee and you can spend some time doing other things.

Hope you're enjoying your week and the Santa Ana winds aren't getting to you :)

06 December 2008

Saturday's Farmer's Market

We'll be back at the Scripps Ranch Farmer's Market. Located at E.B. Scripps Elementary School, which has moved to 11778 Cypress Canyon Road (San Diego 92131), the hours are from 9 AM to 1 PM.

I'll be bringing a small sampling of our merchandise including lots of Melissa & Doug toys, Inky Binky Baby products, some Monchi Crib Shoes, a sample pair of See Kai Runs, and Holiday and Winter Clothing. Oh, and the cute sock rack! Also bringing Laura Roppe CD's! If you don't have one yet, go to her web site (the link is below with my other links) and listen to some of her songs; especially Float Away and Little Daughter.

I'll put a You Tube Video up soon too.

I should be back at the store around 2:00 PM. Excuse the mess while I unpack my truck, but feel free to shop. My dad will be there in case any customers arrive and to take Credit Cards from the Farmer's Market.

Hope to see some of you there!

Inky Binky Baby Pictures

I promised to post some pictures of the new Inky Binky Baby Products I now have in the store and here is just a sampling of what I have! Started by a mom (like all my vendors), Inky Binky Baby products are made with love and care for the fashionable mom. The accessories are fun, unique and priced to sell! You can find these items in other boutiques or the high-end department stores for much more!

I absolutely love the quality of the fabrics and her stitching is made to last. Everything is washable and most products can be for either a boy or a girl. Great to help "accessorize mom" also. And they make great gifts for baby showers, coming home from the hospital, holidays or just because you care! So if you don't need them for yourself, you can always buy them for a friend.

I wish I could use them on my kids but, *sniffle* they are getting to old for all but the hats and blankies (I don't have the blankets in stock yet, but if there is interest I would be happy to order some). You can also order customized burp cloths for a little more. I can give you details in the store or by phone/email. I will be bringing a good selection of the items with me tomorrow to the Farmer's Market so if you can't make it in the store in the next few days but want to check them out, stop by our booth! I'll also be bringing a great selection of Melissa & Doug Toys for gift-giving. And of course, various products and clothing. I'm planning on just bringing clothes up to size 2 so if there is something specific you want me to bring because you cannot make it to the store, call or email me before 4PM today! Otherwise, I'll be back at the store from 2-4 and again next week starting Tuesday... And we are able to take credit and debit cards at the market, thanks to my Dad who will be running the store for me while I wake up extra early and drink lots of coffee! I can do it again :)

Okay, so here's the pictures and details then off to the store.

These are the toddler size Bloomin' Beanies. The beanies are crocheted and fit about a size 18 months up to about a ten or so year old girl. The clips are removable (and movable) as well as interchangeable so you can mix and match color patterns. They are sooo cute on! My girls get compliments everywhere when they wear them. And they are comfortable. How cute would they be for pictures? And to the park, school, grandparents, etc. And my son has one he wears (without the daisy!) and it is just perfect. He's 15 months (OMG!) and my oldest is 5; between the three of them they can mix and match hats and clips and it's great.

I also have some around the store hanging with outfits to give you ideas, but they also work to dress up jeans for your girly-girl!

These are the infant sized ones. They fit from newborn to about 12-18 months, depending on the size of your little ones head. The flowers are smaller and the crochet pattern is different. All the hats are made of soft cotton and are washable.

I also have a small selection of Infant headbands which have even small flowers and you can mix and match those flowers on your beanies also. Or you can put one on you to dress up a tank or your own hair. They say infant, but I had a little girl buy one and it fit her also so I think they are pretty stretchy and would last for a long time.

These fantastic snap-bibs have soft fronts and minky or chenille backs in solid colors. They are so cute and if you insist on putting something on your baby because they drool all over the place, this is the bib that won't embarrass them! And they too are washable so go ahead and use them to feed the baby. As if your little one isn't already the center of attention, these accessories will make them the talk of the outing! They fit newborns to toddlers.

And finally, this is a small sampling of the three-pack burp cloth bundles. You can even mix and match them with the bibs. Let your baby drool, nurse, and spit up in STYLE! And the soft, minky fabrics and retro designs will capture your baby's attention and give him/her something to grab on to.

So that's the pictures for now. Off to the store!
Last day for Military Discount.
Farmer's Market in Scripps Ranch Saturday. Cypress Canyon Road, new location (see former posting for exact address). It's at the old Marshall Middle school which is now EBS Elementary School. Open from 9-1 and lot's of food and activities for the kids! It's directly behind the old location. Plenty of parking. Bathrooms. Tables. Music. Fun!

Inky Binky Baby Products

I'm so excited!!! My shipment from Inky Binky Baby has arrived. However, it is at the Post Office so I have to go pick it up. I may be a few minutes late as a result so I'm thinking I'll get there around 10:30 the latest today. Sorry! I think I should just change my hours to 10:30 since things with the kids and Holidays keep popping up right now.

Anyway, I'll post all the fabulous pictures tonight. From Bloomin' Beanies, Headbands, Burp Cloth Sets and Bibs, Inky Binky Baby has the fabulous boutique styles and quality I am proud to now carry! Great for yourself and great for gifts! Come check them out. I will post the pictures after work so I don't run any later :)

Have a great day. Military discount is still today and tomorrow! And I have a coupon on Craigslist also. Do a search for SRMom3 to look up any of my Craigslist Ads at anytime :)

Missing Post and Hours!

I had a great post last night but it disappeared. Where did it go? Hmmmmmmmm...

Anyway, I'll be opening Tuesday and Wednesday morning at 11 (I might be in earlier, like 10:30ish but just in case) due to some errands and a doctor's appointment.

Since my other posting disappeared, just a reminder military discount extended today through Friday and we'll be back at the Scripps Ranch Farmer's Market on Saturday. Let me know if I can bring anything specific!

I'm off :)

01 December 2008

Military Discount Days!

(Here is part of the missing post! Computers are strange. So is life...)

Short but sweet posting -

Military Discount will be weekdays this week, instead of just the 2nd! So, Tuesday-Friday you can bring in your ID for the discount.

More updates and pictures coming soon. And we will be at the Scripps Ranch Farmer's Market again this upcoming Saturday.

Even Tyra Banks is Doing it!

From today's issue of Parade Magazine (SDUT 11-30-08):
Tyra "Banks: When it comes to clothes, what's new on her is old."
Speaking about her wearing clothes from resale and vintage shops, her stylist Yaniece Piper Thomas quotes "It's one way Tyra is going green and giving back- by wearing recycled clothes."
So, if even a super-rich bomb ass Fashion Icon and Model is doing resale, anyone can!
Love it. Thanks Tyra!

Farmer's Market

Just a reminder and time/address information.

We have a booth tomorrow, Saturday the 28th (I guess today at this time!) at the Scripps Ranch Farmer's Market. Located at E.B. Scripps Elementary School, which has moved to 11778 Cypress Canyon Road (San Diego 92131), the hours are from 9 AM to 1 PM.

I will be bringing a small sampling of our merchandise, as well as fliers and coupons.

So get out and support local merchants this Saturday instead of fighting the ridiculous crowds at the malls!

Hope to see you there.

Wednesday Hours

Hey everyone-

Crazy morning. BTW- can I say enough about the Magic Eraser? Thank you Mr. Clean. Let's just say I have a very artistic three year old that painted my ENTIRE bathroom cabinets and walls in a mere five minutes with a hideous hunter green. Thanks to my little artist for my late morning *mwah* Still love you babe.

On that note, the store will be open today from 12:30/1 until 3:30ish. As promised, I would post some hours. I might swing by Friday to do some stuff if anyone needs a shopping appointment. I cannot do any buying this week though!

Holidays and Other News

Yes, they are officially here - the Holidays! Time for crazy family gatherings and stories to create and tell to our children. Cameras will be snapping and video cameras catch all the wrong things (kidding! sort of). Portraits to be taken, given, saved, or preserved. (See below for a great link for your framing needs!)
Fantastic outfits and accessories are at the store. Lots of stuff for gift-giving also. And speaking of giving, in addition to taking my usual donations I am also trying to get some "wish lists" from Becky's House or the YWCA in the store. I'll update with more information as it moves along. Please remember no matter how little you might have, someone out there is also in need. Giving really is the best gift to yourself.

Interested in donating some food items? My fabulous chiropractor (Dr. Jason Shumard) located upstairs in my building (Active Posture- see link below!) is hosting a bin in his office at the request of his Assistant for Mama's Pantry. They are collecting nutritious non-perishables. Mama's Pantry is a part of Mama's Kitchen. If you don't already know about this Charity, go to their web page at http://www.mamaskitchen.org/ and check it out. Dr. Jason is offering people who donate five or more items to be entered in a drawing. I'll post a list of the items in the store or you can contact his office directly for hours and drop-offs at 858-564-7081. And thank you for working on my never ending migraines!

And while your at it, make an appointment! Treat yourself (or a friend) to a healthier body and get rid of some of that chronic pain we mothers wake up to (some of us daily). As a mom, there is no day off or time to rest an injury or heal from an illness. You deserve 15 minutes to devote to your body. It is the little things we have that keep us going. Light a candle, take a bath, do some Pilate's, take a five-minute time-out in your room instead of sending the kids to theirs and visit a nutritionist and chiropractor. Speaking of nutrition, I hope in the next few weeks to get the nutrition questionnaires into the store if anyone is interested in a consultation from a nutritionist! Also working on some (shhhhhh secret - can't post details yet!) organic, homemade products for mom and baby!
In addition to this season of new beginnings, let us remember ourselves as being important. We need to function in order to care for our little ones. Lots of baby steps because we are all strapped for time, but anything we can do we should. Talk to other moms- you would be amazed at what you find out. Someone might need a hot meal or a friend to go to the park with. Take the time to make yourself feel good by getting to know those around you and you never know what you might learn from them that will enrich your life.

Okay, lecture over. Here I am, mind racing with things to do and feeling overwhelmed myself and I am up again late working not pampering myself. But no matter how stressed I am or how crazy my day is, I really try and make it a point to take a few minutes to do something meaningful or helpful to someone else and something to clear my head for a few moments (if only a few moments, I'll take them).

Backtracking...

So, as I have mentioned lots of new items in and more on the way. It is so exciting. Every new thing that comes in I treat as if it is a little gift :)

Here is a sample of some of the sock purses or as I call them hold-em-alls that I now have in the store. I mentioned them several postings ago but couldn't really describe them without a picture so here it is!Great for holding anything that falls to the bottom of your purse (or diaper bag), for gifts to new moms/grandmas or even your kids, and of course cute. Who can't resist baby size socks? You know you all still have to stop when you see a tiny sock!

I also have been busy putting together little outfits and re-designing the store. I still need to decorate it but it is hard when it is still "unfinished". I also currently have separate racks for some Holiday stuff. Of course, most of the stuff is not just Santa Sleepers and Red Velour Dresses (although I have them) but great stuff for pictures, family dinners, winter outings, and more. A lot of the stuff I carry year-round I moved to the rack for ideas. It's great to think about not only using a resale boutique to recycle your old clothing, but how to make good use out of the purchases you make. Here is a little sample of my new "outfit" rack. I mix in some new and resale items in this picture and you can look closely to get a preview of the Bloomin' Beanies I know have in stock! More to come and I can devote a whole other post to some of my new items (so perhaps I should considering the time...). Anyway, how cute is this? Come in, grab an outfit and your set. Well, maybe while you're there you can grab a Melissa and Doug toy for a gift and that sweater you've been meaning to get and a pair of shoes. Just an idea ;)

You can see that cute little diesel shirt in the corner but not the matching shoes! Size 2T and priced to sell. On the other side you can see my dwindling rack of diapees and wipees. Must be about that time for some new orders. So start your shopping- Resale stores are in and I can give you a million reasons why I'm not just any resale store but I'll save that for another post. Those of you who have been in recently know there is so much more to it.
Final note of the night, Fresh Picked Boutique will have a booth at the Scripps Ranch Farmer's Market this Saturday. I'll be there with some hand-picked products instead of the store, but it will be open for sales and I'll be there from 2-4 afterwards. I hope it goes well. I'm assuming in this economy a lot of people would rather support locally, save money and not fight the crowds at the mall but I guess we'll have to see. I'll try and get an email mailing out this week with coupons and of course, I'll mention the SR Farmer's Market there also. I will also post again about that as it gets closer to Saturday.
As for hours this week, tomorrow (Wednesday) I will be there working and preparing, etc. I assume it will be a slow day so I probably will just be open from about 11-3 for customers unless I get a call from someone needing some help before Thanksgiving! And I will be closed Thursday and Friday. Friday I'll be working from home so if someone really wants to stop by I might be able to make a quick shopping appointment. Shoot me an email. And then Saturday the above mentioned Farmer's Market.
So, that's all for now. Thanks for reading as always!

Friday's Schedule

Changes to my Friday schedule!

Due to the upcoming winter break, I won't be doing the morning volunteering again in my daughter's classroom until sometime in January. So my Friday hours will resume to 10-4 until further notice.

However... tomorrow (11/21) I will be doing an afternoon volunteering in the classroom so I will close the store around 2 PM.

Also, I did some rearranging to the set-up of the site. There is now a contact form to send email questions or requests. And I added the driving directions to the bottom of the page for less clutter on the side and I liked the larger look better.

Thanks and I'll be back :)

Hours Update for the Week (Con'td)

Okay, kids get sick and mom's do too. I'm doing my BEST. And holidays and holiday parties are at school and I WANT to do it all and be there but can't always be...

Thursday hours will be 11:15 (give or take 5 minutes) to 3:30 and Friday I will be there early instead of late (say 9:30/9:45) but have to leave by 2:00 and will be doing my volunteer work in the afternoon instead of the AM, which accounts for me being there early instead of 10:30 as usual on Fridays.

Still working on next weeks hours. Can also do appointments for shopping!!!! Thinking Tuesday 10-4, Wednesday maybe 9:30 to 2-ish? Closed Friday except by perhaps special request and Saturdays are open for suggestion. I'd like to be at the Scripps Ranch Farmer's Market in the AM (which I can have someone fill in at the store for shopping purposes) and be at the store at 1:00. That may be a temporary routine for the next few weeks. The store will probably still be open- just not for buying until I get there.

Working on it- keep you updated.

I will be there doing inventory all day today and getting new stuff on hangers and priced so excuse the jeans and t-shirt :) I will be available for all customers otherwise!

Remember, email me. Call the store. Or if you want my cell phone for purposes only of appointments, questions or am I on my way and I know you as a customer - just ask!!!!

I'm getting lot's of brand new merchandise in for the holidays and can also take special requests on See Kai Run and Melissa and Doug toys that will arrive in time at whatever prices I can get and NO shipping so JUST ASK!!!

Lots more. I'll keep updating. Just remember I have three kids to scramble after and I want this business to be a fabulous sucess so I will do whatever I need- including offering shipping if I need to.

Crazy Tuesday!

Life is throwing me around today so please excuse the in-and-outs of the day. I am at home for a brief few minutes and heading back to Traffic Court (yuck and yes, my fault but I have to go back so the store is currently closed). I'll be back depending on when they finish up with me and then out again at 3:30ish today to meet with someone regarding my 2007 Taxes (Yikes!) before I pick up the kids.

So, I am also adding an email just for the store that anyone can email at anytime. If you have my personal one I am still using that but I will post somewhere on the site later tonight a direct link but in addition to calling the store or commenting on the site anyone can email this address. It is (surprise!) freshpickedboutique@gmail.com

I can check it from anywhere, wherever, on my phone, etc. So, days like this can I can still keep in touch. Make appointments with people who aren't regulars or want to order or reserve something or inquire, etc. One more way to keep in touch assuming there will be busy days such as these.

So, back on the road and then back to the store. Please don't hesitate to call or email and I will get back ASAP.

Again, Wednesday I'll be there 10:45-4. So far, Thursday 10-4 and still working on Friday (either 10:45-4 or 9:45 to 2-ish). See what kind of calls I get.

Update later on the new stuff! Have some pictures coming soon. Exciting!!!

Sorry for the craziness but those of you with your own kids and lives and maybe work also understand and I hope you will still remain loyal customers. I'm finding a way to offer something to those who may show up during regular business hours not knowing I am out and getting them back in for missing them. Remember, new business and still working out the kinks of this sort. Hope you understand and final note- I always go out of my way to look for items people requested on my wish list. One customer asked for something and didn't write down her info. Well, I got in the item and it's going out on the shelf this week. It is the foam ABC 123 Mat from the Right Start. If it was you, let me know. Otherwise, it's up for grabs. Will post more info about that and other Holiday ideas also.

Off to (ugh) Court. Thanks for your loyalty everyone :)
Big appreciation. Let's start some events. And I'm working on those consignment forms for larger items and those of you who need cash since I only offer store credit. Keep in touch and let's see what we can do for each other.

17 November 2008

November 18th-21st

Sorry for the (1) lack of posting when there is so much going on and so much to write about and (2) for the last minute update and inconvenience of store hours.

From now until further notice, I will be open at 10:30 on Fridays and am trying to figure out how to make up for that lost time. I may be there sooner but not always so it seems like it might just be easier to say I will be open at 10:30 and you can always call first.

This week also on the 18th and 19th I won't be there until about 10:30/10:45. Wednesday for sure between 10:30 and 10:45 due to a doctor appointment that will not run late. And Tuesday I am not quite sure. I have court in the AM and am trying to figure out how to get it over as quickly as possible. Or get an extension and do in another time or an afternoon when I can get a sitter. This Friday however, there is a slight, slight chance that I may do my volunteering on Friday in the afternoon instead of the morning and as the week progresses I will keep updated.

Then the following week comes Thanksgiving and I am trying to figure out what sort of schedule is best for my customers. I can open Friday early, late, not at all? Sale on Saturday instead? New products are in for the Holiday shoppers! I will be closed Thursday for Thanksgiving and possibly close early the Wednesday before unless I get requests otherwise.

So this week and next, call call call if you are planning on coming in early! Or if you want to schedule some holiday shopping next week- I can also just open Wed/Fri by appointment and give special attention.

After that, regular hours will resume and I will be planning December events, specials and promoting new products and ideas. I hope to have a VERY busy month with lots of different activities and ideas. Now into our third month, I am ready to be as busy as possible.

There will be times when I do have to leave such as this week, but I am looking also into having someone that can cover me for that hour or so so that I won't have to close the store. Hey, I too am a mom. And with three young ones going at this alone things do come up. But I want this business to be a success so whatever it takes- even if I have to take an appointment when I wouldn't normally. Or I am available at other times for personal shopping if you (a) don't want to or (b) don't have the time (c) hate the holiday crowds or (d) can't find a sitter and even (e) want someone else to get those good deals for you.

I can also help plan showers, events, registries, and help with pre- and post-baby info. All the above can be discussed further at your request.

I'll update with some real postings again soon. Until then, stop by and check out price reductions on new merchandise and other great deals on high-quality products!

Veteran's Day - Store Hours

Brief update- Tuesday is Veteran's day and since it is a school holiday I will be working but with limited hours. I will have (probably at least 2 of) the kids and they probably don't want to spend an entire day at the store with me (and really, the feeling is mutual).

Please email or call if you have any questions. I'm just going to play it by ear and probably just come in a little later and take it from there. I do however live close by so if you need something or have the day off yourself and wanted to come by, I will do my best to accommodate anyone.

Let me know. Most of you have my email or the store number. You can always comment here and I can check. I'm planning about 11-3 give or take. If I get people in or calls, I have no problem staying longer. If the clock is ticking and the kids get bored and no one is coming by I may leave earlier.

So... Other than that regular hours until Thanksgiving week. I'll plan on closing early Wednesday (haven't decided what time) and I will be closed that Thursday and Friday. I plan on re-opening Saturday with maybe something fun or a special. If there seems to be interest, maybe I can even do a few hours that Sunday.

And of course, Holiday outfits and more are in so come take a look!

Voting Day!

So, the candy drive has ended and no donations :(

I guess the short notice was not very helpful. My bad. Good intentions though.

However, Tuesday is voting day and as a good citizen (and of course, one of my degrees was in Political Science) I encourage you all to take ten minutes and go place your votes! Can't remember where to go? The link on the site is still up that can direct you to your polling place. Bring in your sticker (or receipt of mail-in if you voted by mail) Tuesday or Wednesday this week November 4th and 5th for a 5% discount of any store purchase. As usual, cannot be combined with other coupons, discounts or store credit. No minimum purchase required.

Military discount is also until the 5th this month.

Briefly, I still haven't figured out how to put on the machine at the store if I might be running late or have to run out for an appointment so I'm still posting here. I have an appointment around the corner Wednesday morning and might be in twenty minutes late if it lags (which I have a feeling it will). And later this month one day, I have another one at 8:30. I will post which day when it gets close just in case that one also runs late.

If you haven't been in recently, I have lots and lots of new stuff - some of it has been inventoried and lots more is on its way to be. I will also be getting more new stuff in (new Gymboree, new and used Baby Lulu and more) hopefully this week. And I got boxes of donations for both the store and to donate (Thank you, thank you, thank you). So I'll be going through those also as time allows. I will also pick up donations locally if I am able.

Also, I found this fabulous web site I hope to be getting some new items from just in time for fall and the holidays. Handmade, boutique quality and totally stylish accessories. I'll post pictures and more information after the details are made. And hopefully in the next month or so, some other handmade stuff will be working its way into the store. In addition, I have these great little "hold-alls". I have to take pictures because my description won't do them justice.

But here goes a brief try-at-it:
They are basically different style of baby-socks made into little purses. Great for holding anything that falls to the bottom of your bag- not just change. Think pacifiers, lip gloss, medication, tampons even. Or great as gifts for kids and adults alike. Love them.

These sort of things are what helps make this resale shop a boutique- quality, variety, great deals and fabulous stuff.

What ideas do you have? Anything you would like to see? Feel free to post comments if you don't have my email- I read them! I know I love the resale aspect of the store. Not only economically for us moms does it make sense but recycling our little ones stuff (and our maternity) is a good thing to do. However, we all like something new now and then also and I like that my store has that option.

It feels like fall finally, at least for now! Here's a picture of one of my girls (way back when) cozied up in her Barefoot Dreams jacket. Don't forget the playroom, rocking chair and changing station if you just want to get out for a bit. It is part of the store for a reason and I love to see it being used!

Speaking of a new season, let's get some ideas going. Activities you would like to see, playgroups to plan, merchandise you would like to see, community events (like a blood drive), etc. Or maybe you have something you do and would like to promote or sell. Or a "class" to teach. And I still haven't started on story time but would love to add that now that the weather is changing and people are looking for new activities. I want your input as the consumer.

Talk to me!

Happy Halloween!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Friday and an exciting Halloween with their little ones!

Sorry if closing the store was an inconvenience, but it ended up being a super busy day between class parties, quarterly sales tax filing, and not only getting three little excited kids ready to trick-or-treat, but then trying to get over-tired candy-eyed children to bed! Another late night of course, but it was all worth it.

The Halloween Costume rack at the store will now be replaced with Holiday outfits! I'll keep the costumes in the store for a short time before putting them in storage in case anyone is looking for any dress up outfits, but not too long. As the store is beginning to fill up and things to inventory is piling around, I do not want to accumulate too much clutter. Until they are packed away, they will still be 10% off the marked price.

And since the "special occasion" rack I have is not that big, I will probably still have great staple items around the store to be used for the upcoming season for dress-up and/or pictures, etc. So, if you don't see what you are looking for, as always- just ask. I'm more than happy to help you with ideas.

I also should be getting in a lot more new items (and possibly some larger sized used) on consignment so I'll be busy putting out new fall items such as Gymboree, Baby Lulu, CachCach and other boutique items for below retail. Be sure to stop by and see what is new. Remember, with a resale boutique, merchandise is constantly changing so there should be some new-to-you fabulous find each time you come in.

Some items of interest...

Did you accumulate way too much candy today, piled along with your own leftovers that did not get passed out? Don't want the temptation (for you or the kids) sitting around for the next year? Donate them to a good cause! Pick out your favorites and bring the rest by the store on Saturday (I'll let you know if I can take them next week as well). My oldest daughter's school is one of the schools teaming up with San Diego's "Super Dentists" Dr. Keri and Dr. Hoss. For each pound of candy donated, the school will receive a $1.00 donation and so will Rady Children's Hospital Foundation. And the best part? The candy will be shipped to our troops overseas! I saw the article in the November Issue of Family Magazine (did you see our first ad????) and wondered how Fresh Picked could be a part of this. Then today I heard the school would be taking the donations to the dentists, so I could just bring any extra or donated candy to them and they would pass it on. Everyone wins. I hope you have a little something to drop off for this good cause. I'll be open the usual hours on Saturday, 10-4.

And Tuesday election day is finally here, so go vote and wear your sticker to the store for a special discount. And if you forgot where your polling place is located, I placed a link to the site on my sidebar. I'll post more details before Tuesday. Presidential elections have the highest voter turnout and this year, the issues have been even more heated. Remember to educate yourself on an issue/proposition before voting on it or if you are confused and don't have the time, feel free to leave that box blank. It is okay to just vote what you know about so you make choices you are happy with.

Finally, tomorrow through Wednesday (November 1st-5th) will be military discount days, so please bring your ID if you are eligible.

Until next next time.

30 October 2008

Friday, October 31st - Closed

As I mentioned earlier, there would be a chance this Friday, Halloween I might be late, closing early or just closed. At this point, my schedule is pretty full with the kids and appointments so I am planning on being CLOSED this Friday, the 31st.

I probably will be in for a little bit in-between to do some inventory.

If you were planning on coming in and can only make it that day, call me Thursday and maybe we can set something up. Business will resume as usual on Saturday and as Saturdays are usually one of my slower days, please COME ON BY :)

Assuming Friday would be a slow day anyway, I hope this is not an inconvenience. If it is, again, call and I'll see what I can do for you.

Happy Friday/Halloween!

28 October 2008

Tuesday Morning- Running a little late

Hey everyone-

I'll be about a half hour late this morning. My allergies have been rampant with this weather and I have been sniffling around the store scaring the moms. So I'm off to the drugstore to pick up some claritin and I'll be in as soon as I can get there!

Probably about 10:30.

Promised I'd post this week- I knew there would be some delays. Everything should be back to normal schedule by November 1st.

Thanks for understanding and please come by and shop still. I have my youngest the next few days so bring your kids and let them play!

27 October 2008

Weekly Note and Halloween Comment

To those of you who don't check regularly, I wanted to take a chance to let you know that this week will be a little crazy with my personal schedule. I may have to run in and out a few times or be in late one or two days. I will note them on the blog, but if you are planning on swinging by right at 10 or right before 4, you might want to call first or check the site.

And Friday the 31st I will not just be in a little later than 10 due to school scheduling with my oldest daughter, but I might have to close early to attend an event at the school. Probably by 2:00. I have a feeling though that I probably won't be having a lot of customers around that time.

However, if you were planning on stopping by around then and there is something specific you are needing, call and let's make arrangements. I can also come by at other times occasionally for specific appointments if necessary.

I want to be a great store manager, but these things are SO important to my children and being a mother comes first (as I am sure it does to most of my readers/shoppers). So let me know if there is anything special I can do for you.

And I think I mentioned already, but just in case I haven't- this week all costumes are 10% off marked price and the last of the Halloween Tees will be $1.00. They won't be further discounted after Halloween either since my prices are already low. So if you are looking for a bargain for dress-up stuff for your kids and waiting for Halloween sales- this is mine! Call if you are looking for something special and I'll see what I can do for you.

No military discount again until the 1st- unless you can mention the paper where you saw our Ad that mentions we have a military discount. I'll post when it starts again. Remember your ID and I also post a sign on my bulletin board by the register on the days I am giving the discount.

That's it for the night. It has been an exhausting few days and my writing won't be very interesting. Won't bore you with mundane blogging. However, I may be lowering some of my prices on the new Baby Lulu I have in stock so don't be afraid to ask if the tag is the final price on those items. I'm not sure when I'll get to re-tagging them because I also want to get the rest of my items out. I'm really behind on inventory since the surgery.

As for appointments, I'll probably not be taking any this week except for possibly Thursday or Saturday. As usual, call and let's see what we can do.

Thanks for reading/shopping/contributing!

24 October 2008

Friday Mornings and other blurbs...

So, my posting has been a lot less than I would like. And for all of you out there following my blog, sorry for nothing interesting recently! I have been a little out of sync the past month. Personal issues, surgery, too many late nights and early mornings, and just the general a lot on my mind like most of us moms have right now. Especially in this economy! Which is why you should shop at my store.... Resale, Recycle, High Quality for Less. Really, if you picture resale as a crowded, stuffy space with racks that are disorganized that you have to pick through for what you are looking for or a decent brand- think again. I promise my store really has the "boutique" atmosphere. One of my goals is to make my customers feel they are in an expensive boutique, getting their kids pampered and themselves personal attention/shopping ideas, but with out only $50 outfits to choose from. Sure, on my new racks I have expensive boutique items, but they are all marked 20% or more off retail. And my resale stuff is all hand-picked by me and taken care of as if it was my own children's clothing.

Speaking of my new items, here's some pictures of some adorable new baby nay and Baby Lulu USA I have in stock for less than retail. I have seen the cheap Baby Lulu on eBay like everyone else. Do you know most of it is now made in China or fakes? That's why a dress is selling new on eBay for $20 instead of $44. I may not have this season's runway styles in, but they are all originals and since they are earlier seasons or years I can buy them for less and therefore pass on that bargain to you and sell the items for less.

Look at this baby nay romper. Love the lace butt! I have some matching long sleeve knit dresses if you like the pattern.

And here are just a few of my new Baby Lulu in stock. I have lots more to still inventory also. And even a pretty good selection of used if you are a big fan of Baby Lulu but can't (or don't want) to pay for the new stuff.

I have other brands coming in and out all the time. Some boutique, some random (like Old Navy or Janie & Jack) but mostly girl. My selection of new boy clothes is adequate but not where I would like it to be. I hope to be working with some other boutiques on consignment to get their new items in the store and pass on the discount to you guys. My deals are yours!

I can't believe it is two AM already! It is hard enough to get enough rest being a mom, but add being a working mom and forgetaboutit.

Note of importance! Friday mornings I am going to be volunteering in my oldest daughter's classroom. Now most of the time it won't take very long (I am sorting and redistributing books) but occasionally it might. Therefore, I might be running a few minutes late some Fridays. Think between 10-10:30. Once I get a system down, I can probably do it faster also. So if by chance you get there before me, I am on my way. Kick back, have a cup of coffee and/or read a magazine while hopefully baby is sleeping from the car ride or even better, the kids are at school and this may be the only break you get!

On the topic of waiting, since I work by myself I have to lock up if I need to step out for a moment. I might need to use the restroom, talk to a neighbor, grab a snack, etc. I'm never out longer than 5-10 minutes and usually even less. If that's the case, I put the closed sign up with a note "Be Right Back!" and I will so don't get frustrated and leave. And if for some reason I have to go run a quick errand or an emergency comes up, I will post a sign saying so and when and if I will be back. This has very rarely happened. Occasionally I do have an appointment or something in the morning and I will post on this site on which day I will be coming in a little later or leaving a little early, etc. Also rare, but sometimes necessary. I am pretty much always in the store during open hours, but if some emergency comes up or nature calls I have to lock up for Security reasons but there is always a posting on the door. Give it a minute or two and there I will be! I am always afraid to step out for a moment because I don't want to inconvenience anyone but I have to be realistic and I figure most people are reasonable and understandable and so, I thank you ahead of time if you have to wait a couple minutes every now and then. It has rarely happened that someone has been waiting when I get back, but now you know it could so it hopefully won't be a surprise!

Last blurb of the night (it really is late and my poor coffee pot is broken!)... Our first Ads our out. Check out the classified section in the Military Press and the November Issue of Family Magazine! I also have some free copies of Family Magazine if you want to take one home.

I think I hear my bed yelling at me. Signing off.

Wait! (Sorry bed- be there in a sec).

Still have some Halloween Costumes left and some glow bracelets with purchase. And it is looking like no Halloween Party because I'm not getting a lot of feedback on the actual dates like I did when I asked if it sounded like a good idea. Or, if you and/or your friends are interested, vote! Either way, let's come up with another one. Leave a comment on the blog or call the store if you have an idea for an event!

Military discounts have been extended. Have not had any playgroups or mom's groups book for their discount in awhile so I should post exactly what I offer and some ideas. Also would like to mention more about gift baskets, helping first time moms with making a realistic list of needed items or helping with registries (for a fee, but worth the help if you need it!). I'm not buying a whole lot right now. I am still looking for boys 18M and up and girls size 3 and up. I will take a look at some other smaller items- either things I'm low on, good staples to have on hand or a fabulous "boutique" style item I can't pass up. So come on it and do some shopping! Crib bedding and more slings/baby carriers in as well as a little bit of this and that.

Okay, Okay. I know. I'm really going to bed so I can attempt at least four hours of sleep if all goes well...
